ANDERSON – The Madison County Minority Health Coalition (MCMHC) announced today that it has been awarded two grants, totaling more than $350,000. This money will be used to support a variety of programs aimed at improving the health and wellness of individuals living in Madison County.
“The health of the minority community in Madison County has never been more critical,” said Brenda Jones, Board President of MHCMC. “Now more than ever, it is important that we partner across the community to promote health and wellness initiatives.”
As an affiliate of the Indiana Minority Health Coalition, the organization will receive a total of $119,680 in funding over the next two years to support programming and administrative costs.
“The Indiana Minority Health Coalition (IMHC) is pleased to award and collaborate again with the Minority Health Coalition of Madison County (MHCMC), which is one of our original sites,” said Calvin E. Roberson, Vice President of Planning and Program Development for IMHC. “IMHC is looking forward in tag teaming with MHCMC to mobilize community members and community organizations and businesses to improve the health and well-being of disparate populations through education, research, access to care, and advocacy efforts that address inequities that are experienced by these populations. We are glad for the re-formation of this vital community organization and look forward to its leadership.”
The MCMHC was awarded a grant for $248,895 over the next two years from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). This funding will allow the organization to use targeted marketing, outreach and in-person events to help support drug prevention and other heathy living habits for minority seniors living in Madison County.
