About

The Minority Health Coalition of Madison County (MHCMC) is an affiliate organizational member of the Indiana Minority Health Coalition (IMHC). We are a not-for-profit community-based organization designed to  do the following:

  • Promote minority health through education, advocacy, public relations, research and leadership.

  • Advocate for community representation for medically underserved individuals that will bring about workable solutions to address personal, family and community health problems experienced by minority populations.

  • Reduce premature mortality and illness resulting from conditions to which minority populations are at high risk by stimulating awareness of and knowledge about those conditions.

  • Improve access to health care and services for minorities and individuals that are unable to obtain adequate care.

  • Ensure that health care services are of a high quality, are culturally sensitive and sufficiently coordinated.

  • Improve program access for youth to receive academic and activity enrichment.

  • Advocate on legislative and administrative policy issues that affect the availability, accessibility and quality of health care for minority populations.

  • Obtain funds to support the organizational goals and initiatives.

"Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane."

 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
